Jesus Came into Our House!

30 11 2008

I just arrived in our house. My legs are all cramped. My body all tired from the long climb up Mt. Samat with the diocesan pilgrimage. I have just changed my clothes and was wearing my comfortable black sando and shorts.

And then…

JESUS KNOCKED AT MY DOOR!!

Apparently, my sister and i were just the people around our house today together with the maid. We both have just arrived at home from the city and wasn’t really expecting any visitors since the rest of the family are on the road, plus our mom really haven’t uttered any word about one. And to our surprise, Jesus paid a visit.

Here in our town, the traditional culture of religion is still widely present and practiced by the people. And this day, the procession of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is traveling from house to house and has entered our dwelling unexpectedly. I was surprised, really i was. Picture me out welcoming people inside our house in my pambahay clothes and tsinelas, most of them are even catechists! More than that, i felt my pulse rate raise a beat faster than usual when they asked me to lead the rosary in Filipino, which i master only in English! I can picture myself with a big SOS sign in a bubble atop my head, but good thing i didn’t mess it all up. Thank God for that! :)

I felt really awkward being not prepared for such situations, but i guess the sermon of our priest last Sunday was right: we’ll never really know when God will come and say hi. It’s really amazing how God can surprise all of us, during the unexpected moments were divine intervention just comes around and caught us in whatever we are doing, surprisingly unprepared. But with everything at hand, there is no turning back, we just have to face His presence for what really is important are not the clothes we are wearing, or what mirienda to prepare for the people, or even how much we know and memorize the prayers in whatever langguage… because I have learned that what’s really important in the eyes of the Lord is the good we have present in our hearts, the good we have in our conscience and the good that lies in our soul. :D
